Stampede killed 345 in Mecca

On the third day of Sacrifice Festival (Eid al-Adha), 345 pilgrims died in a stampede during the symbolic devil stoning earlier on Thursday in Saudi city of Mecca.

According to preliminary results, two Turkish pilgrims are among the dead, and three Turkish nationals among the injured.

Saudi Health Minister Hamid Bin Abdallah el-Mane announced 345 people lost their lives; no number of wounded has given yet.

According to the eyewitnesses, the stampede occurred at the upper level entrance of the Jamarat Bridge at 1:45 p.m. Thursday.


It is said that government have put in lots of effort into avoiding such incident from happening, it is also said that the government have taken many precautions steps however it is enough. I respect the effort by all parties and I hope such events can be further reduced in the future.
